Record what you notice
Note the room, when you first noticed the issue and whether it has changed. If safe, keep dated photographs of staining, visible mould or water ingress. Describe observations rather than guessing a cause: for example, “a damp patch appeared beside the bedroom window after heavy rain”.
Report concerns promptly
If you rent, tell your landlord or managing agent and retain the report and their response. You do not need to wait for a device alert before reporting something that worries you. Seek urgent assistance for an immediate danger.
Take health concerns seriously
Damp and mould can affect health, and some people are more vulnerable. Seek medical advice if you are concerned about symptoms, as well as reporting the housing issue. A device reading is not a medical assessment. See the government’s health-risk guidance.
What VEX adds
VEX is being developed to follow temperature, humidity and mould-associated gas patterns over time. Our goal is to reduce uncertainty about changing room conditions. VEX 0.6 is in development; join the waitlist for launch news or discuss the Sheffield pilot.
